Let’s take a look at the three steps of Invisalign treatment that will transform your smile:
Step 1: Planning Your Treatment
During the first step, your orthodontist will take digital and x-ray images of your teeth. The details are shared with Invisalign software that allows your dentist to virtually plan, step by step, the exact movement of your teeth throughout treatment. Your case is then sent to a lab where several sets of aligners are customized to move your teeth sequentially through treatment.
Step 2: Wearing Your Aligners
Your orthodontist will see you periodically for checkups, but the success of the next step (moving your teeth) is dependent on your compliance in wearing the aligners at least 22 hours a day. You will be instructed to wear each set of aligners for about two weeks then move to the next set in the series. This length of treatment is different for everyone, but results can be achieved in as little as a year.
Step 3: Wearing Your Retainer
Congratulations! You committed yourself to treatment, and now you can finally smile with confidence again. But to preserve these results, you will need to be conscientious about wearing your retainer. If you don’t wear it as prescribed, it won’t be long before you undo all your effort.
